The Migration is not an event. It is a continuous presence — a living river of 1.5 million animals moving clockwise through two countries for twelve months of every year. The famous crossings at the Mara River happen because the river is a barrier. The wildebeest stand at the bank for hours, sometimes days. Then something tips the first animal over the edge. And then there is nothing but water and noise and crocodiles.
We place clients in conservancy camps with private vehicles and guides who know the specific river bends where crossings happen. Not in the main reserve fighting for position. Inside the ecosystem, with space and silence around you.
Sample itinerary
Nairobi · Transit night
Arrive, settle, brief from Jacob or guide on what to expect.
Olare Motorogi Conservancy
Private conservancy adjacent to the Mara. Exclusive game drives, no vehicle limits, walking with Maasai guides.
Mara River camps
Positioned at the crossing points. Full days at the river. Migration timing briefed nightly.
Naboisho Conservancy
Predator density exceptionally high in July–Oct. Cheetah coalition, lion prides, leopard on the fig trees.
Serengeti · Northern corridor
Follow the herds south as they begin the return. Quieter, wilder, fewer vehicles.
Who this journey is for
First-time and returning safari travellers who want the Migration done properly — inside the ecosystem, not photographing it from a distance. Families with children 8+ are welcome in conservancy camps.
What Elea does here
Jacob has placed clients in every major conservancy camp around the Mara for 20 years. We know the guides who know the river bends. We know which camps give you private vehicles as standard and which don't. We track grass conditions in the southern Serengeti from February to predict the following year's timing.
Jacob responds within 24 hours.
